Thorn Tree Coffee's Mission Statement
The founder of Thorn Tree Coffee, Lee Albaugh, has been an active part of Zambian life since 1975. When Zambian coffee farmers suffered in 2003, Lee was determined to help out in anyway he could. He found a way by purchasing and then marketing a Zambian friend's coffee beans to the United States! Since then Lee joined with Gracewell Mwansa on the Makoma Farm to farm coffee! Makoma Coffee has16 Ha (about 40 acres) of coffee being cultivated and grown by our team, farming the old style hands on way with organic practices. Our team in Zambia is able to provide living and schooling needs for their families. About 100 families each year participate in the growing of our Makoma Coffee!
